A Swedish Christmas (floor cloth, 24" x 36")

Art in the Time of COVID to Now

by Ann Hollingworth

Being isolated and confined during the COVID pandemic was like a crash course in challenging my growth, exploration, observation, and craft in raising my art.

My love of history and art combined when I began designing original canvas floor cloths using historical textile references that were common floor coverings in early Canadian and American homes.

From the cutting, hand sewing, designing, and painting of heavy canvas floor cloths to experimenting with different stains, inks, and applications on everything from traditional stretched canvas to flat remnant pieces for my flower art, COVID forced my work to become innovative and defining in new ways.

I am grateful to my Etobicoke Mimico Library as a reliable source for providing helpful reference materials during the COVID lockdown period.

Note: Due to the unstretched nature of canvas floor cloths, they may not visually appear even.

Prices available on request.
